100 points Tasting Notes: "The 2014 'Black Magic' Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterpiece from Tor Kenward. The selection of fruit for this wine comes from the best barrels, regardless of what part of the valley they are from. The result is a simply monumental wine, which delivers seductive aromas of blackberries and dark currants woven together with sweet spices, mocha, graphite, spicebox and hints of floral all coming together and bursting from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied, voluptuous red is well structured and balanced, as it continues to impress with its deep layers and concentrated flavors of ripe dark fruits, sweet spices and mocha, which all cascade across the palate. This profound wine demonstrates a gorgeous textural richness with an opulent mouthfeel and polished tannins leading up to the exceedingly long finish. Tor and winemaker Jeff Ames have achieved something incredibly special and rare with this wine, as they were able to combine remarkable power, depth and concentration, while keeping it all in balance, resulting in a flawless wine. While this is already extremly delicious, I expect it to continue to evolve gracefully and drink beautifully for decades to come." (Best 2019-2040) - January, 2017 (JD)

99 points Tasting Notes: "One hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Black Magic Proprietary Red is literally the best barrels in Tor’s red-wine cellar. This is a fabulous wine, as one might expect, with loads of black and blue fruits, sweet tannin, adequate acidity and an energy and concentration that are off the charts. This is a magnificent wine that can be drunk now, or cellared for another 25-30 years.” Robert Parkers’ Wine Advocate #227

Tor Kenward is using his vast experience in the wine industry and impressive palate to find exceptional terroirs and produce fascinating wines that merit serious attention. His winemaking guru is Jeff Ames, who makes his own wines under the Rudius label. I re-reviewed the 2014 Chardonnays and most of them fell within one to two points after bottling last year. His 2015 Chardonnays are also bottled. The 2015 Chardonnays, which are concentrated and generally made from smaller yields are slightly even more impressive than his 2014 Chardonnays. Kenward has an impressive array of 2014 reds, all of them showing as well as, or better, than I had predicted in my range of scores last year." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #227
