WINE SPECTATOR: "There has already been a lot of hype surrounding the 2015 Burgundies… I can say that the excitement is justified. There are truly some magnificent wines from this vintage."(May, 2017 - - full story at bottom)
At less than $300 per bottle this boutique production (just 2 barrels!) Grand Cru is a relative bargain considering that Batard Montrachet from many top producers trade for $600+ per bottle. While Le Montrachet vineyard is still “King” commanding prices north of $1,000 per bottle, the insider scoop is the famed Batard vineyard is directly adjacent. The soil of the Batard vineyard is a little deeper and richer but the prices are a mere fraction. This makes for more approachable wines stylistically (in their youth)….and financially!
"Classic 98 - 99" point tasting notes: "The 2015 Morey-Coffinet Batard Montrachet is an awe-inspiring triumph. The bouquet possesses incredible verve and a laser-like focus. Notes of Honeycrisp apple, Bartlett pear and white peach lead to a palate that is dazzling in its complexity, boasting majestic layers of tightly wound fruit with hints of orange peel and silky smooth lemon oil that will blossom gracefully in the years to come. Hints of flakey pastry dazzle the majestic finish enticing me to another sip and desire to add this masterpiece to my personal cellar! This awe-inspiring white is worthy of 98 points now and will evolve into a 99+ point treasure over the next 2 – 3 years." California Wine Advisors

WINE SPECTATOR on 2015 Burgundy: In the May, 2017 issue, Bruce Sandersen says proclaims: “There have been times during my tastings of the 2015 vintage in Burgundy when the wines really made an impact, emotionally, viscerally, even spiritually. There are truly some magnificent wines from this vintage. There has already been a lot of hype surrounding the 2015 Burgundies. Having tasted more than 200 wines, I can say that the excitement is justified. Yields in 2015 were already down roughly 20 percent to 30 percent. With the global demand for these limited production wines, prices will rise. The best are worthy of space in even the most discerning collector’s cellar. And if you’re not inclined to shell out for the top wines, the vintage offers many outstanding options if you’re willing to look beyond the famous names.
